The Monarchs looked indestructible in their 55-8 win over Hawaii’s Kahuku. They appear to have no flaws. Mater Dei has outscored its last three opponents 165-12.

2. Orange Lutheran 3-1 (72)
The Lancers took a trip to Arizona where they lost to Chandler 35-10. Chandler is No. 20 in the MaxPreps.com national rankings.

The two-quarterback system is working for the Diablos. Luke Fahey and Draiden Trudeau combined to complete 14 of 15 passes for 224 yards and four touchdowns in a 58-0 home win over Highland.

Kamar Garbourel rushed for 160 yards and a touchdown in the Lions’ 34-14 home win over Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks. JSerra has won three in a row since a two-point loss in the season opener to Sierra Canyon, the No. 5 team in the CalHiSports.com state rankings.

Junior quarterback John Gazzaniga was declared eligible Thursday after his transfer from Orange Lutheran and looked comfortable in an Eagles uniform that evening. He completed 20 of 30 passes for 377 yards and four touchdowns in a 51-45 win at Bishop Amat.

The upset of the season so far is Servite’s 28-24 win over Los Alamitos last week. Quaid Carr rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns and the Friars defense made several clutch plays.

Turnovers contributed to the Griffins’ 28-24 loss to Servite last week. They will need to fix that problem quickly because they play at Mission Viejo on Friday.

The Tritons have an excellent offensive line, a quick back in Aiden Rubin and a terrific defense that all played well in a 28-24 win over Corona del Mar. They play another good Sunset League team this week, Edison, at Huntington Beach High.
