Notable this week: Mission Viejo and Yorba Linda make their debuts in this season’s Top 25. … Yorba Linda is 10-2 and won the Loara Saxon Tournament last week. … Mission Viejo has wins over Capistrano Valley Christian and San Juan Hills, two teams that were in the Top 25 earlier this season. … Capistrano Valley is 6-1 over its past seven games and moves up No. 13 this week.
BOYS BASKETBALL TOP 25

1. Mater Dei 5-1: The Monarchs stay in the No. 1 spot for the second week in a row after an impressive 68-59 win over Heritage Christian last week. Zack Davidson scored 18 points with nine rebounds in the victory.

2. Canyon 11-1: The Comanches will play the remainder of the season without starter Josh Goodall (broken leg). They still looked strong in a 77-58 win over Cypress.

3. JSerra 8-0: The Lions did not play last week. They are in Las Vegas for the high-quality Tarkanian Classic tournament.

4. Santa Margarita 9-1: The Eagles beat Murrieta Valley by 28 points last week and play in the Tarkanian Classic this week.

5. Fairmont Prep 11-1: The Huskies did not play last week and are off until the Desert Holiday Classic begins after Christmas.
