Two new dishes will soon appear on menus at Le Shrimp Noodle Bar‘s Irvine and Costa Mesa locations — laksa and Hainanese chicken rice, two of the city-state’s most beloved comfort dishes.

The new additions, which, as of now, will remain on the menu for a limited time, represent the brand’s expansion beyond its signature shrimp broth and ramen.

Perhaps the most iconic of the two is the Singaporean-style Hainanese chicken rice. The dishes features delicately poached chicken that results in a tender texture. The real star, however, is its rice, a fragrant accompaniment simmered in chicken stock, ginger, garlic and pandan leaves.

Guests can customize their orders with either skin-on dark meat or lean, boneless breast. (Psst, go for dark.)  Each serving also comes with a trio of dipping sauces: a chili paste, ginger-scallion oil and thick, dark soy sauce.

For those seeking a bit of heat, the restaurant is launching its own version of laksa. The seafood-based noodle soup features an aromatic and creamy coconut curry broth. The bowls come loaded with prawns and sliced fish cakes, beansprouts and traditional tofu puffs. The Irvine and Costa Mesa locations will each serve only 25 bowls per day.

Both the laksa and Hainanese chicken rice will appear on menus starting Monday, Jan. 19. Le Shrimp Noodle Bar is part of Singaporean Paradise Group, which also owns Paradise Dynasty.
