Mater Dei’s girls volleyball team won the Silver Division championship in the Durango Fall Classic in Las Vegas this past weekend.

Los Alamitos was the tournament’s Classic Division champion.

Mater Dei defeated Mountain View of Orem, Utah, in the Silver Division final 25-20, 25-21. Freshman outside hitter Layli Ostovar was the only Orange County player named to the all-tournament team.

The Monarchs (18-4 overall, 2-0 league) defeated Orange Lutheran in three sets in a Trinity League match Tuesday at Mater Dei.

Los Alamitos beat Arizona’s Queen Creek in the Classic Division final. Beckman finished fourth in the Classic Division. Foothill was third in the Character Division.

San Diego Cathedral Catholic defeated Marymount in the Championship Division final.

Huntington Beach won the championship of the La Jolla Coastal Classic’s top division, its Gold Division, with a victory over Bishops in the division final Saturday.

La Habra was runner-up in the tournament’s Bronze Division.

Senior libero Tori Hagan and junior setter Dani Sparks of Huntington Beach were named to the all-tournament team.

ORANGE COUNTY NOTES

Huntington Beach defeated Los Alamitos in five sets in a Surf League match Tuesday. Huntington Beach is 22-2 overall and 2-0 in league. Los Alamitos is 18-6 overall, 1-1 in league. …

The CIF Southern Section combined Division 1 and 2 rankings have Mater Dei at No. 5, Huntington Beach at No. 7, San Clemente at No. 8, Aliso Niguel at No. 12, Beckman at No. 13 and Cypress, JSerra and San Juan Hills tied at No. 14.  Canyon is ranked No. 1 in Division 5.

San Clemente is 15-6 overall, including a tournament win over Mater Dei. The Tritons will be at home Thursday for a South Coast League match against Aliso Niguel (10-3, 1-0). …

MaxPrep.com’s national rankings have Mater Dei at No. 13. Other CIF Southern Section teams in MaxPreps’ national Top 25 are Mira Costa (No. 6), Sierra Canyon (No. 14), Marymount (No. 16) and Redondo (No. 25). San Diego Cathedral Catholic is No. 1.
