It will be another busy Saturday for Crean Lutheran senior Jack Fairchild.

He is entered in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles and the long jump and triple jump in the Orange County Championships track and field meet Saturday at Mission Viejo High.

He did well in those four events this past Saturday in the Laguna Beach Trophy Invitational at Laguna Beach High. Fairchild won the triple jump with a mark of 43 feet, 4.75 inches, placed second in both hurdles races and was sixth in the long jump.

His time of 15.02 seconds in the 110 hurdles at the Trophy meet is second fastest in the county this season. The 40.49 Fairchild ran in the 300 hurdles is third best in the county.

Fairchild was an All-Empire League football receiver for Crean Lutheran this past fall, and he was a key reserve on the Saints basketball team that played in the CIF Southern California Regional Division 1 final.

County-leading sprinter Max Thomas of Servite is entered in the 100 and 200 in the Orange County Championships. Thomas, a senior, sizzled in the 100 at the Trophy meet, running a 10.55 that is the best time in California this season. His 21.49 in the 200 at the Long Beach Invitational last month leads the county.

The Orange County Championships meet record for the 100 is 10.53.

Dana Hills senior Jai Dawson, the state and county leader in the 800 (1:50.63), will run in that event and in the 1,600.

The Orange County Championships begin Satuday at 8:30 a.m. Gates open at 7 a.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and for students without valid student identification, $3 for students with valid student ID, and $2 for children under 10 years of age.

Thomas was the star of the show in the Laguna Beach Trophy Invitational.

Tesoro senior Doinic Gates turned in a time of 10.75 in the boys 100.

Santa Ana junior Jimmy Dominguez turned in the best time in the county this season (9:10.94) in the 3,200.

Mater Dei junior Logan Lyght triumphed in the 110 and 300 hurdles with county-leading times of 14.62 and 39.19, respectively.

Corona del Mar senior Jason Plumb achieved the county’s best long jump mark this season (22 feet, 11.25 inches). Mater Dei senior Jacob Kongaika’s mark of 52.75 in the shot put is a season best in the county.

TRITON INVITATIONAL

San Clemente senior Caroline Hawkes displayed her speed on her home track this past Saturday in the Triton Invitational. She won the 200 with a wind-aided 24.66 and finished second in the girls 100 with a county-leading 12.16.

Orange Lutheran senior Rebel Tuinuknafe won the shot put (39-3) and the discus (123-6). Aliso Niguel senior Brennan Foody’s 4:19.63 in the 1,600 was the fourth-best time in the county this season. He finished 11 seconds faster than the second-place finisher, Katella senior Jonathan Aguilar.
