A 264-unit apartment community at the juncture of Alton Parkway and Von Karman Avenue has opened in Irvine.
Broadstone Edition includes floor plans that range from studio to three-bedroom units. Rents range from $3,480 for a one-bedroom unit to $4,700 for a 1,200-square-foot, two- or three-bedroom, two-bath apartment with a spacious great room, according to its website.
The five-story complex wraps around a six-story parking structure and two courtyards. Amenities include a pool and spa with cabanas, karaoke lounge, a rooftop deck with firepits, a gym, bicycle parking and a courtyard barbecue area.

“The Broadstone Edition design responds to the diverse housing demands in Irvine, which continues to be underserved by the market,” said KTGY Principal Bryan Sevy, LEED AP. “The affordable residences seamlessly integrate with the market-rate apartments…”
Construction began in 2021. The interior designer was Hendy, with civil engineering provided by Fuscoe Engineering. The landscape architect was MJS Landscape Architecture.

Sixt Rental coming to Disneyland resort corridor
A new rental car company is bringing its fleet of vehicles to Disneyland, its first retail location in Orange County.
Sixt Rent-a-car has leased a 1,500-square-foot building at 231 W. Katella Ave. in Anaheim, according to JLL.
The new facility, next door to a Hertz rental car shop, is scheduled to open this summer.
JLL represented the landlord, MacBaisey Living Trust. Sixt Rent-a-car was represented by CBRE.
“We continue to see demand for retail and retail-adjacent space from a variety of users including travel, healthcare and professional services,” said Justin McMahon, a senior vice president at JLL.
McMahon said the location was perfect for Sixt given its proximity to the tourist and business communities.

BKM Capital Partners in Newport Beach bought the Canyon Industrial Center in San Diego for $70.2 million.
The multi-tenant industrial park in San Diego’s Kearny Mesa submarket spans 198,728 square feet in 13 buildings.
BKM said it will spend $1.7 million to elevate the status of the complex at 9424-9560 Chesapeake Drive to Class A from Class B.
Canyon will see upgrades to its roofs, HVAC systems, parking lots, paint, signage and landscaping. Two large industrial units totaling 32,000 square feet will be reconfigured into four small-bay suites averaging 8,000 square feet.

Justin McCusker, NAIOP SoCal’s 2024 past-president, has been appointed to the NAIOP National Board of Directors. He will work with other industry leaders to elevate commercial real estate development at the national and local levels. McCusker is a senior executive with C.J. Segerstrom & Sons and South Coast Plaza, serving as director of the South Coast Plaza Office Division and as director of Community and Government Relations.
Aaron Anderson is the new vice president of Development for Southern California at Dermody Properties in Irvine. He will be responsible for due diligence, design, entitlement, budget and construction oversight for investment developments across Southern California. Previously, Anderson was senior director of development at Public Storage. Dermody has three projects under construction and four Class A logistics properties available for lease.
MVE celebrates 50 years
The architecture, design and planning firm MVE + Partners in Irvine is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
The firm was founded in 1974 by Carl McLarand in Santa Ana, first focusing on residential and commercial development.
Today, MVE touts projects across the globe, with projects beyond California to Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and countries including Mexico, UAE and China.
